About
A brand new box of crayons was the best way in the world to spend $.50 when I was a kid. My favorite gift of all time was a “Learn to Draw” kit from my grandparents.
I always wanted to be an artist when I grew up but “Life” got in the way, and I had to postpone serious art until after my 6 children were grown.
Other than that long-ago drawing kit which taught me perspective, I have taught myself how to paint. Putting shapes and color on a piece of paper has almost become an obsession. Did you know that you could get withdrawals from watercolor?
Art is much more that shapes and color, however. It is about the emotion that the viewer feels when he sees that art piece. A picture can be ho hum to one person and delight the heart of another.
Fortunately I have had the blessing of selling many of my paintings and photographs. They are now in the homes and offices of collectors throughout the Southeast, Texas and Pennsylvania and New Jersey. One is in the corporate headquarters of Frito-Lay and another at Camp WinShape, which is sponsored by Chick-fil-a. My work has also been published in a biography of James Oglethorpe by Silver Editions in New York and in Art & Expressions magazine.
The most fun project I have ever done was a “cow” for the Atlanta Cow Parade. Zoo Cow was auctioned for cancer research and was featured in the Atlanta Cow Parade Book.
